DETAILS FOR CLASS
SATURDAY, MAY 29, 2PM
Thank you for signing up for your Texas License to Carry course with Stockyard Security Services (instructed by Steve & Jewels). We are scheduled to have class Saturday, May 29, beginning at 2pm. If you were scheduled for our President's Day class, which was cancelled due to weather, your payment will be honored and applied to the next scheduled class. If you're still not able to attend this upcoming class, please contact us for more rescheduling options.
To receive your Completion Certificate for your TX License to Carry (formerly known as Concealed Handgun License), you must complete 2 exams – all included with your payment.
We will begin this course with classroom instruction, to be concluded with the TX DPS written exam, consisting of 25 multiple choice questions – all questions and answers covered in class. Above 75% is considered passing, however, most of our students have always easily passed with 90-100% scores.
After classroom, we will proceed to the shooting portion of the exam. If you are not prepared to take the shooting exam, you do not have to shoot at this time - please contact us to schedule a separate time for the shooting portion of the exam. You are welcome to bring your own firearm and ammo (no steel), but we also have multiple loaner guns and one box of ammo/per ‘rental’ available. Additional boxes of ammo will be $10/50 round box for 22LR (i.e. if re-testing is necessary – time permitting) and $30/50 round box of 9mm.
The shooting proficiency exam consists of 50 total shots – 20 shots at 3 yards, 20 shots at 7 yards, and 10 shots at 15 yards… You must pass shooting proficiency with 75%. We will cover all of this in detail in class, or you can preview the exam on our website.
We can provide safety protection for eyes and ears, but please feel free to bring your own as well.
If you are shooting please dress accordingly – Closed toe shoes, high collared shirts recommended – no low cut or cleavage, headwear is not required, but caps are recommended.
If you are bringing your own gun and ammo PLEASE LEAVE them Locked safely and securely, out of sight, in your car, until further instructed. All guns and ammo to remain OUT of the classroom until instructed to bring them inside for the shooting range AFTER class. For class you only need to bring pen & paper, if you’d like to take notes. Nothing else, besides your attendance is needed for class.
